I would like to suggest that neither Isaac nor Rebeka knew where Laban was. They thought that they would send Jacob to Mesopotamia where Nachor was. [Laban was the son of Nahor.] But on the way to Mesopotamia, Jacob encountered the spring with the rock over it, and decided to lend a helping hand. In the meantime, he asked the people there if they knew anything about Laban, and to his surprise, they had, and said in fact he lives here, and here come Rachel, his daughter, to draw water from the spring. You can see that neither Isaac nor Rebeka sent him to Charan, but to where they thought Laban lived with his father. [They sent him to Padan Aram--Mesopotamia] Obviously in the meantime Laban had picked himself up, and moved to Charan-------------------------------------------I would like to suggest that neither יצחק nor רבקה knew where לבן was. You can see that neither יצחק nor רבקה sent him to חרן, but to where they thought לבן lived with his father. Obviously in the meantime לבן had picked himself up, and moved to חרן
